Cam Carter put LSU ahead for good with a jumper 1:08 into the third overtime and the Tigers came away with a wild 109-102 win over UCF on Sunday in the third-place game of the Greenbrier Tip-Off in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Carter's make sparked a 5-0 spurt for LSU (5-1), which mounted a ferocious second-half rally that began after Darius Johnson drilled a 3-pointer to put the Knights up 52-34 with 12:57 to play in regulation. UCF (4-2) got back within two in the third overtime, but it never found a way to draw even. Vyctorius Miller and Jordan Sears sealed the victory, combining for three buckets down low that gave the Tigers a 106-99 cushion with 17 seconds remaining. Carter was the late-game hero for LSU, scoring the final four points of regulation to forge a 70-70 tie. He also knocked down a go-ahead 3-pointer with 3:19 left in the first extra session to give the Tigers a 76-75 advantage. Sears gave LSU a four-point edge with a triple of his own with 2:10 to go, but the Tigers failed to stay in front, and UCF's Keyshawn Hall kept the game going by sinking two free throws with six seconds remaining to make it 82-82. Neither team led by more than three in the second overtime, with Hall again coming to the Knights' rescue. He made two layups in the final 52 seconds of the frame to knot things at 93 and send the teams to a third OT. Few could have predicted 15 minutes of extra basketball after UCF put together a 25-3 first-half run that lifted it to a 38-18 advantage with 2:12 left until the break. LSU responded with seven unanswered points, but the Knights still led comfortably, 40-25, at intermission. Sears finished with a game-high-tying 25 points to go along with nine boards, while Jalen Reed recorded a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double for the Tigers. Carter netted 20 points, Miller had 16 and Dji Bailey chipped in 14. Johnson collected 25 points, six rebounds, eight assists and five steals for UCF. Hall totaled 21 points and 10 boards, and Jordan Ivy-Curry supplied 20 points. LSU outshot UCF 43.2 percent to 40.7 percent and had narrow advantages from behind the arc (12 made shots to 10) and the free-throw line (21-18). --Field Level MediaOpposition Accuses PDP Govs, NWC Of Plot To Keep Damagun In Office Till 2027okbet kyc verification

COLEEN Rooney tackled her first Bushtucker Trial last night — after husband Wayne sparked a surge in votes by urging millions to nominate her. She got coated in critters after the football legend, 39, issued a plea to his 62 million social media followers just hours before Saturday’s poll. The Plymouth FC boss said he and their four sons would “love” to watch Coleen, 38, face a challenge in the Australian jungle. Their wish came true as the public backed the Wagatha Christie sleuth and radio DJ Dean McCullough , 32, to face the Absolute Carnage trial. Coleen said of her Bushtucker trial: “I’m excited for my boys back home to see me do something. “Hopefully, I’m gonna do well, I’m gonna try my best.” Read more on Coleen Rooney She had creepy crawlies and rats all over her inside a tin tumbler, but remained calm as she unscrewed stars for a camp meal. Wimpy Dean , meanwhile — who has yelled “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” on two other trials — screamed as he had fish guts dropped on him. But they bagged nine out of 12 stars for camp. It came after Wayne posted a message on his official profiles on Facebook , X and Instagram , saying: “Me and the boys would love to see her doing a trial and know she’d want to put herself to the test. Most read in I’m A Celebrity 2024 “Let’s get voting!” Later, he joked on X: “Think I could be in trouble here.” A source said: “Coleen has had plenty of airtime to chat all things Wayne and Wagatha but wants to get stuck into the trials and show what she’s made of. “ Wayne knows that, hence why he encouraged all his followers to vote for her — and his posts definitely impacted the vote.” Speaking to presenter Joel Dommett on a video call for I’m A Celeb’s ITV2 spin-off Unpacked, Wayne said he has been voting for Coleen to do the challenges. Wayne, who cannot meet Coleen when she leaves the show due to work, also revealed it’s been the longest he and his childhood sweetheart have been apart since they were kids. And he said their boys —- Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and six-year-old Cass — are missing her badly. Away from the trial, Coleen told how she and Wayne met Donald Trump in his first term as President — and she wasn’t impressed. She said: “When we lived in America, we were invited to the White House for Christmas , and we went in to meet Donald Trump . “He said to my son, ‘See? Told ya, all the soccer players get the good looking girls. And I told my mum, I was like ‘dirty b*****d.’” READ MORE SUN STORIES Meanwhile, McFly’s Danny Jones and boxing legend Barry McGuigan have been voted in as the new camp leaders. The public backed them to replace singer Tulisa Contostavlos and Corrie’s Alan Halsall. IT’S blowing a gale at home but there’s definitely a rumble in the jungle. Luckily it’s not in the campmates’ stomachs, as Teabag Dean had Coleen with him for Absolute Carnage and they managed to get nine stars. I’m applauding Coleen. She really held her nerve as the mealworms, cockroaches and rats crawled all over her. Danny is still my number one. He has the most infectious personality and as camp leader I think his personality will shine even brighter. I’m buzzing that he got his bed. But I tell you what — there are going to be some serious bed wars coming up, that’s for sure. Fair play to the Reverend, he’s drama-free. And as the cook with Oti, he’s found his place in camp. Dean really doesn’t want to sleep with the rats, does he? He’s definitely not very happy. After that trial win though, hopefully the only way is up.

GENEVA (AP) — Netflix has secured the U.S. broadcasting rights to the Women’s World Cup in 2027 and 2031 as the streaming giant continues its push into live sports. The deal announced Friday is the most significant FIFA has signed with a streaming service for a major tournament. The value was not given, though international competitions in women’s soccer have struggled to draw high-value offers. “Bringing this iconic tournament to Netflix isn’t just about streaming matches,” its chief content officer Bela Bajaria said in a statement. “It’s also about celebrating the players, the culture and the passion driving the global rise of women’s sport.” Netflix dipped into live sports last month with more than 60 million households watching a heavily hyped boxing match between retired heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and social media personality Jake Paul. Some viewers reported streaming problems , however. Netflix also will broadcast two NFL games on Christmas Day: the Kansas City Chiefs at the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens at the Houston Texans. That’s part of a three-year deal announced in May. World Cups are typically broadcast on free-to-air public networks to reach the biggest audiences, and the last women's edition in 2023 earned FIFA less than 10% of the men's 2022 World Cup. FIFA president Gianni Infantino had publicly criticized public broadcasters , especially in Europe, for undervaluing offers to broadcast the 2023 tournament that was played in Australia and New Zealand. That tournament was broadcast by Fox in the U.S. “This agreement sends a strong message about the real value of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the global women’s game,” Infantino said. The World Cup rights mark another major step in Netflix’s push into live programming. It’s recipe that Netflix has cooked up to help sell more advertising, a top priority for the company since it introduced a low-priced version of its streaming service that includes commercials two years ago. The ad-supported version is now the fastest growing part of Netflix’s service, although most of its 283 million worldwide subscribers till pay for higher-priced options without commercial. But Netflix is still trying to sell more ads to boost its revenue, which is expected to be about $30 billion. Netflix executives have predicted it might take two or three years before its ad sales become a major part of its revenue. Netflix expects to spend about $17 billion on programming this year — a budget that the Los Gatos, California, company once funneled almost entirely into scripted TV series and movies. But Netflix is now allocating a significant chunk of that money to sports and live events, a shift that has made it a formidable competitor to traditional media bidding for the same rights. FIFA will likely use the Netflix deal to drive talks with European broadcasters that likely will be hardball negotiations. Soccer finance expert Kieran Maguire, a co-host of The Price of Football podcast, suggested the deal was “a bit of a gamble" for FIFA and “saber-rattling” by Infantino. “(Netflix) get experience of football broadcasting, FIFA can say, ‘we are now partnering with a blue chip organization, so watch out you nasty Europeans,’” Maguire, an academic at the University of Liverpool, said in a telephone interview. FIFA and Infantino also want to raise the price of broadcast deals to help fund increased prize money and close the gender pay gap on the men’s World Cup. At the men’s 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 32 team federations shared $440 million in prize money. For the women’s 2023 tournament , FIFA had a $152 million total fund for prize money, contributions to teams’ preparation costs and payments to players’ clubs. In FIFA’s financial accounts for 2023 , the soccer body reported total broadcasting revenue of $244 million. In the year of the men’s 2022 World Cup it was almost $2.9 billion. The next Women's World Cup will be a 32-team, 64-game tournament in 2027, played in Brazil from June 24-July 25. The U.S. originally bid jointly with Mexico. The 2031 host has not been decided, though the U.S. likely will bid for a tournament which FIFA is expected to try to expand to 48 teams. That would match the size of the 104-game format of the men's World Cup that debuts in 2026 in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Spain won the 2023 Women's World Cup after the U.S. won the two previous titles — in France in 2019 and Canada in 2015. More than 25 million viewers in the U.S. watched the 2015 World Cup final, a 5-2 win over Japan, played in Vancouver, Canada, in a time zone similarly favorable to Brazil. FIFA tried to sign Apple+ to an exclusive global deal to broadcast the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup which is being played in 11 U.S. cities next June and July. Broadcast networks showed little interest in the FIFA club event that will now be broadcast for free on streaming service DAZN, which is building closer business ties to Saudi Arabia. Ahead of the next Women's World Cup, Netflix will "produce exclusive documentary series in the lead-up to both tournaments, spotlighting the world’s top players, their journeys and the global growth of women’s football,” FIFA said. ___ AP Technology Writer Michael Liedtke in San Francisco contributed to this report. ___ AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer Graham Dunbar, The Associated Press
