Video game retailer GameStop Corp GME reported third-quarter financial results after the market close Tuesday. Here are the key highlights. What Happened: GameStop reported third-quarter net sales of $860.3 million, down from last year's third-quarter total of $1.08 billion. The total missed a Street consensus estimate of $887.7 million, according to data from Benzinga Pro. Sales broken down by segment were as follows, with the total from last year's third quarter in parentheses: Hardware and accessories; $417.4 million ($579.4 million) Software: $271.8 million ($321.3 million) Collectibles: $171.1 million ($177.6 million) All three segments saw year-over-year sales declines. The company reported net income of $17.4 million in the third quarter versus a net loss of $3.1 million in last year's third quarter. GameStop reported adjusted earnings per share of 6 cents. The company ended the third quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $4.62 billion. In the third quarter, the company completed a previously disclosed at-the-market equity offering program that had aggregate gross proceeds of around $400 million. "The Company does not anticipate any further at-the-market offerings involving the offer and sale of its common stock during the current fiscal year," the company said. TRIBUTES are being paid to a well-known fisherman who lost his life following a tragic fall from a boat in Louth yesterday. It's understood the dad-of-three, named locally as Gearoid McMahon, 62, fell from a fishing boat at King John’s Pier Carlingford on Monday. The local community in Carlingford are in deep shock following a tragic accident. Gearoid, from Ard na Mara, Wallaces Road, Blackrock, Louth, was a native of The Ennis Road in Limerick city. The local coast guard and gardai attended the scene after the alarm was raised around 8.30am. Divers quickly started a search for the remains of tragic Gearoid. This is the latest in a number of tragic accidents to have happened in the popular seaside village on the Cooley peninsula. Just four years ago Healthcare assistant Ruth Maguire lost her life nearby. The fisherman leaves behind heartbroken wife Patricia and his three children Fiona, Eoin, and Ruairi. Funeral directors took to social media to announce his death. Posting on Facebook , they alerted mourners to the details of Gearoid's passing and asked for privacy for the family. The death notice reads as follows: "The death has occurred of Gearóid McMahon. "It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely death of Gearóid Mc Mahon, Blackrock, Co.Louth and formerly of Ennis Road, Limerick and Strand Road, Limerick, following a tragic accident. Normally a team that avoids committing turnovers and pressures its opponent into making them, Xavier (6-1) will try to recapture its early-season winning form when it hosts South Carolina State on Sunday in Cincinnati. Through their six wins, the Musketeers had just 58 turnovers while forcing 82 by their opponents. But against the Wolverines, they lost the turnover battle 19-10 and the game 78-53. The Musketeers committed 14 turnovers in the first half and fell behind 41-30. (Paul Hammel/Nebraska Examiner) LINCOLN — The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office and the Hall County Attorney’s Office are appealing the dismissal of criminal charges against a notary public who notarized medical cannabis petitions for the fall election. Hall County Attorney Marty Klein, Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers and Assistant Attorney General Michael Jensen filed an appeal Friday to take the case to Hall County District Court against Jacy C. Todd, 54, a notary from York. Mark Porto, Todd’s attorney, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday on the appeal but previously urged prosecutors to “ stop playing political games .” “A series of politically orchestrated (and false) Class II misdemeanors are among the least scary and intimidating things Mr. Todd has ever encountered,” Porto said in a statement last month. Prosecutors to appeal case against Nebraska notary, whose attorney asks ‘to stop playing games’ Prosecutors charged Todd on Oct. 2 with 24 counts of “ official misconduct ” for allegedly notarizing petitions outside the presence of a paid petition circulator — Michael Egbert of Grand — on 24 separate dates. Egbert pleaded guilty Nov. 8 to a Class I misdemeanor for circulator fraud, down from a felony. He testified in court that he used a phone book to illegally add and forge voter signatures. Hall County Judge Alfred Corey dismissed all charges against Todd on Nov. 22, finding that notaries are not public officials and that allegations of notarial “malfeasance” can already be tried administratively. Corey ordered the state to pay associated court costs. “While these duties greatly assist others, notary publics are not public servants who are performing governmental functions,” Corey wrote in a four-page opinion. The prosecutors, in their appeal, argue that Corey erred in finding that a notary was not a public official and said many states recognize notaries public as having governmental power. The prosecutors added that an administrative investigation doesn’t prohibit criminal prosecution. Todd is believed to be the first notary public criminally charged in Nebraska in actions involving allegations of notary malfeasance. Hilgers’ office accused about seven other notaries involved with the medical marijuana ballot initiatives of similar malfeasance by Hilgers’ office in a Lancaster County District Court case against the petitions . None of the seven have been charged in the same manner as Todd. The Lancaster County district judge dismissed the case after rejecting arguments from the AG’s Office, which included accusations of notarial malfeasance. That ruling is also being appealed .
